Styrsö — an idyll in Gothenburg’s archipelago
The journey towards Styrsö begins as soon as you board the ferry – a gem in the middle of Gothenburg’s southern archipelago. Once there, you will be greeted by small fishing villages, open cliff landscapes and easily accessible hiking trails. The island is large enough to be explored on foot or by bike, and along the way you will enjoy beautiful views of the archipelago. There is plenty of space here for both peaceful walks, swimming from the cliffs and simple nature excursions – a relaxed archipelago environment that is just as suitable for a weekend as for a longer stay.
A historic place for recuperation
The choice of Styrsö as destination for our hotel is not by mere chance. The island has been known as a place to come and recharge your batteries for over a century. During the 1800s Styrsö’s health promoting properties attracted city dwellers to spend their summers here, out in the archipelago, with its fresh air and inviting scenery. Sanatoriums and summer hotels were established, and many made the journey here to rehabilitate both body and soul. These days Styrsö continues to live up to its reputation as an oasis of calm and wellbeing.
